Switchboard and safety upgrades that actually protect you

Ceramic fuses, no safety switches, a board that's full — these are the things that turn a small fault into a serious one. We upgrade switchboards properly, label every circuit, and walk you through it before we leave.

01Time to upgrade?

Signs your switchboard is past it

If any of these sound like your board, it's worth a look — most upgrades are a one-day job.

Ceramic or rewireable fuses

Pre-1990s technology with no earth-leakage protection. The single clearest sign it's time.

No safety switches (RCDs)

Safety switches are what stop a shock becoming fatal. Modern homes need them on every circuit.

The board is full

No spare ways means no room for an EV charger, air con, solar or a new kitchen circuit.

Breakers trip when it rains

Moisture ingress into an ageing board or its circuits — worth addressing before it worsens.

Nothing is labelled

In an emergency, nobody should be guessing which switch kills which circuit.

Scorching, heat or a hum

Loose terminations generate heat. This one warrants a same-week inspection.

02Our process

A one-day upgrade, done properly

Assess & quote

We inspect the existing board, your incoming supply and circuit count, then quote a fixed price with no surprises.

Book the outage

Power is off for a few hours, so we agree a time that suits your household and confirm it in writing.

Install & test

New enclosure, RCBOs on every circuit, surge protection if specified — then full compliance testing.

Label & walk through

Every circuit clearly labelled, a certificate of compliance issued, and a walkthrough so you know your own board.

03Our promise

Safe first. Neat always.

A switchboard upgrade isn't about looking pretty — it's about making your home safe and reliable. But there's a reason our boards look the way they do: neat cable runs, correct terminations and clear labelling are what a careful job looks like from the inside.

06FAQ

Switchboard questions

How long does a switchboard upgrade take?
Most residential upgrades are completed in a single day, with power off for a few hours in the middle. We agree the timing with you in advance.
Do I legally need safety switches?
In NSW, safety switches are required on power and lighting circuits for new and altered installations, and are strongly recommended everywhere else. If your home has none, you're relying on a fuse to protect a person — and it can't.
What's the difference between an RCD and an RCBO?
An RCD protects against earth leakage; an RCBO combines that with overload protection on an individual circuit. Fitting RCBOs means a fault on one circuit doesn't take out half the house.
Will I need to upgrade before installing an EV charger or solar?
Often, yes — both need a spare way and adequate capacity. We assess the board as part of quoting either job so there are no surprises.
Do you provide a compliance certificate?
Always. You'll receive a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work on completion, which your insurer and any future buyer may ask for.
Can you match the board to a heritage or narrow space?
Usually. We measure and select an enclosure that fits the space and meets clearance requirements — send us a photo and we'll tell you what's possible.
