Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information M&J Electrical Works Pty Ltd collects through this website and in the course of doing electrical work, how we use it, who we share it with, and how long we keep it. We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

Last updated: 28 July 2026.

Who we are

M&J Electrical Works Pty Ltd (ABN 33 498 495 601) is a family-owned electrical contracting business operating in Western and South-Western Sydney. We hold NSW Electrical Contractor Licence 359722C. In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" refer to M&J Electrical Works Pty Ltd, and "the website" refers to mandjelectricalworks.com.au.

What we collect

We only collect information we actually need in order to respond to you and carry out electrical work.

When you submit an enquiry through this website, we collect:

  • Your name, phone number and email address.
  • The suburb or address where the work is required.
  • A description of the job you have told us about.
  • Your relationship to the property (owner, tenant, agent or strata), where you tell us.
  • Your preferred time to be contacted, where you tell us.
  • Any photographs you choose to upload of the electrical issue or the site.
  • Technical information about how you reached the website, including the referring page, the search or advertising campaign, and standard UTM tracking parameters.

If you go on to become a customer, we also collect the information needed to quote, schedule, complete and invoice the work — including the site address, access details, job notes, photographs taken on site, compliance and testing records, and billing details.

We do not require you to create an account on this website, the website does not accept public comments, and we do not sell advertising space to third parties on this site.

Photo uploads

Photographs you upload with an enquiry are optional and are used solely to help us understand the job before we attend, so we can give you a more accurate answer and bring the right equipment. Please do not include people, documents or anything else in the frame that you would not want us to hold. Uploaded photos are stored with your enquiry record and are subject to the same retention periods set out below.

Photographs taken by our electricians during a job are used for compliance records, for our own quality control, and occasionally as examples of our work. Where we publish a job photograph publicly — for example on our website or social media — we do not identify the customer or the street address without permission.

How we use your information

  • To respond to your enquiry and arrange a callback.
  • To prepare quotes, schedule attendance and complete electrical work.
  • To issue invoices and process payment.
  • To meet our record-keeping and compliance obligations as a licensed electrical contractor in NSW.
  • To follow up after a job, including inviting you to leave a review.
  • To understand which of our services and advertising are working, in aggregate.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing purposes.

The systems and services we use

Running the business means using a small number of third-party services. Each of these may store or process some of your information on our behalf.

ServiceM8 — our job management system. Customer contact details, site addresses, job notes, photographs, quotes, invoices and compliance documentation are stored here. ServiceM8 is an Australian company and acts as our data processor.

GoHighLevel — our customer communication and enquiry management platform. Website enquiries, phone and SMS follow-up, email correspondence and review requests are handled through this system. GoHighLevel is based in the United States, which means some of your information is stored overseas.

Google Analytics — used to understand how people find and use the website. This is aggregate and statistical: page views, approximate location, device and referral source. Google may set cookies to do this.

Google Ads — we advertise on Google. Conversion tracking tells us which advertisements led to an enquiry or a phone call. This does not tell us anything personally identifying about you beyond what you choose to send us.

Meta (Facebook and Instagram) advertising — we advertise on Meta platforms and use their tools to measure whether those advertisements are working. Meta may match activity on this website to a Meta account where you have one.

Instagram — our website displays our public Instagram feed. Viewing that feed may involve Instagram setting cookies in your browser.

Website hosting and email — our website is hosted on Australian infrastructure and our email is provided by a commercial email provider. Both hold information incidentally as part of delivering the service.

Where a provider stores information overseas, we take reasonable steps to satisfy ourselves that it handles that information in a way consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.

Cookies and tracking

This website uses cookies and similar technologies for analytics and advertising measurement, as described above. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Doing so will not stop the website working, though some embedded content such as the Instagram feed may not display correctly.

We also record standard UTM parameters and the referring source when you submit an enquiry, so we know which advertisement, search or page brought you to us. This is attached to your enquiry record and used to measure our marketing.

Review requests

After a job is completed we may send you a message by SMS or email inviting you to leave a Google review. This is sent through GoHighLevel using the contact details you gave us. Leaving a review is entirely optional, the review is published by Google rather than by us, and you can ask us not to send review requests at any time.

Reviews shown on this website are drawn from our public Google Business Profile and display only what the reviewer chose to make public.

Who we share information with

  • Our service providers, as listed above, to the extent needed to run the business.
  • Our trusted accredited solar partner, where you have enquired about solar or battery installation and we need to arrange a design or quote for you.
  • Suppliers and subcontractors, where a specific job requires it and only to the extent needed to complete that job.
  • Our accountant and, where relevant, our insurer.
  • Regulators, where we are required to provide compliance or certification records.
  • Anyone else, where you have asked us to — for example a managing agent, a strata manager or a landlord.

We may also disclose information where we are required to by law.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries that do not become jobs: generally kept for up to two years, then deleted.
  • Customer and job records, including quotes, invoices and job photographs: kept for at least seven years, in line with tax and business record-keeping requirements.
  • Electrical compliance and certification records: kept for the period required under NSW electrical safety regulations.
  • Website analytics: retained in aggregate form according to the retention settings of the analytics platform.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access. This website is served over an encrypted connection, access to our job management and communication systems is restricted to the people who need it, and those systems are protected by individual accounts. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of information transmitted over the internet.

Accessing, correcting or deleting your information

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it is wrong, or ask us to delete it. Contact us using the details below and we will respond within a reasonable period. We may need to verify your identity first. In some cases we are not able to delete information — for example compliance records we are legally required to retain — and if that applies we will tell you why.

You can opt out of marketing and review request messages at any time by replying to the message or contacting us directly. We will still contact you about work in progress.

Complaints

If you believe we have mishandled your personal information, please contact us first so we have the opportunity to put it right. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always published on this page, with the date it was last updated shown near the top.
