05FAQ
Common electrical questions in Guildford
Why do so many Guildford homes still have the original switchboard?
Because a lot of them have been in the same family for decades. Nothing forces an upgrade until something fails, so it is common to find a board with rewireable fuses and no safety switches at all.
What does a switchboard upgrade involve?
We replace the board, fit an RCBO safety switch to every circuit, test and label each one, and issue the compliance paperwork. On older homes we also check the main earth while we are there.
Can you add extra power points to a Guildford home?
Yes, and it is one of the most useful things you can do in a house of this age. These homes were wired for far fewer appliances than a modern household runs.
How close is Guildford to your service area?
It sits between Merrylands and Fairfield, both on our regular round, so it is an easy suburb for us to reach.
Which council covers Guildford?
Guildford is in the Cumberland City Council area, alongside Merrylands which we also cover.
