05FAQ

Common electrical questions in Macquarie Fields

What is the most common job in Macquarie Fields?
Switchboard upgrades. Homes from the 1970s and 80s build-out are now at the age where the original board has no RCD protection, is often full, and is carrying far more load than it was designed for.
Will I need a full rewire?
Usually not. We test the existing circuits rather than assuming the worst. Most homes of this vintage need a modern board with an RCBO on every circuit, and sometimes an extra circuit, rather than new cable throughout.
Can you add power points and downlights?
Yes, both are common here. On a home of this era we check the circuit can carry the extra load before adding to it, rather than just connecting and hoping.
Do you install smoke alarms in Macquarie Fields?
We do, to NSW requirements, including interconnected photoelectric alarms, with the install and test dated and recorded.
Which council covers Macquarie Fields?
Macquarie Fields is in the City of Campbelltown LGA, alongside Glenfield, Ingleburn, Minto and Campbelltown.

I contacted M&J Electrical primarily for an ongoing issue with my hardwired smoke detectors, Michael checked the internal wiring and replaced both with superior fittings. I also had some other jobs completed on the same day, such as an outside sensor light, replaced two outlets and completed a Power board upgrade to ensure it met current safety standards. All could be done the same day with all parts supplied. I was totally impressed with Michael and his crew , such nice honest electricians. A superior work ethic stood out to me compared to previous electricians I have used. I would highly recommend M & J Electriclal. Photo – Outside sensor light – sleek and light is bright and extends entire side of house.
